about

I wanted to be Charles Mingus for an afternoon a few years ago, so I wrote and recorded this blues, inspired by "Hora Decubitus" a.k.a. "E's Flat Ah's Flat Too". Someday I'll make a masterful bebop marimba album, a la Jean Criterion, the little-known (in fact, fictional) French jazz marimbist who sat in with Bud Powell and Kenny Clarke at the Paris Blue Note, recorded with Dexter Gordon, had a band with Pierre Michelot, toured with Randy Weston and Rufus Harley, was friends with Jeanne Moreau, and taught for years at Kenny Clarke's drum school. He died in 1989.
